Braver Angels, SE Democracy Study, and Navigating Beliefs Course Translations
SEI will bring Street Epistemology to the Braver Angels 2026 National Convention, support a democracy-focused scientific study on SE, and put the finishing touches on the German and French versions of Navigating Beliefs for public release.
18 June 2026
Dear friends,
I’m pleased to share several important updates from Street Epistemology International.
First, SEI will be participating in the Braver Angels 2026 National Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from June 25 – 28, 2026. Four SEI representatives with diverse political leanings will be tabling at the convention and offering a space for attendees to gather, learn about Street Epistemology, and help attendees practice applying it to political claims.
We are excited for the opportunity to introduce SE to Braver Angels and to the many attendees from other organizations working in the civic, dialogue, democracy, and depolarization space. These are exactly the kinds of groups and individuals who should be aware of Street Epistemology when it comes to helping people reach across political divides.
Second, SEI is supporting a scientific study on Street Epistemology being conducted by a research team at LMU Munich, led by Prof. Dr. Alexander Wuttke and funded by the German Research Foundation. The study will examine whether structured SE conversations can influence how people reflect on and evaluate democracy. The research team is currently seeking volunteers with SE experience, or the motivation to develop the necessary skills, to conduct structured one-on-one Zoom conversations on democracy-related claims.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of the first large-scale scientific evaluations of Street Epistemology in a real-world intervention setting, with a clear connection to strengthening democratic reflection and discourse.
If you are interested in being considered, please fill out this brief registration form:

Finally, both the German and French versions of the Navigating Beliefs course have now been translated, and we have formed review teams to check the translations before publicly releasing them. These versions will contain Modules 1 through 9, just like the current English course does.
We can always use more help reviewing these translations. If you are familiar with Street Epistemology and speak either German or French, as well as English, fluently, please complete this volunteer form or contact me directly on Discord.
Our team is also still hard at work on Module 10: Evaluating the Quality of Reasoning from the Navigating Beliefs course. Once that module is ready, we will invite people from the general public to review it and give us feedback before it is released as well. You can register to test this and future course modules by emailing [email protected].
Looking ahead, SEI will also have a table presence, complete with signage and schwag, at the 2026 World Humanist Congress in Ottawa, Canada, from August 7 – 9. We are grateful for each opportunity to share Street Epistemology with people and organizations who are working to improve how we think, talk, and engage with one another.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. To financially support us and efforts like this, please consider making a contribution to our organization.
Regards,
Anthony Magnabosco
